I've got one or two RD400 motors that I got from a wrecker a bunch of years back in my basement.
It'd need rebuilding.
Cheers,
Andre

Do you know what crank it is for. The tapers changed over the years so you have to match the the stator with the end of the crank

Ah. Thats the 76 so it should have the short crank end.

The later ones had a longer/diffrent taper on the end of the shaft and you can also use a RD350LC, Banshee or even a YPVS stator on those. The oil seal is diffrent as well. Paul at PJME for the crank bits

I definitly don't have one of those as all my cranks are from the later bikes.

There is always aftermarket stuff like VAPE which is good stuff but not cheap.

Let me ask around. Have you tried the AirCooled forum in the UK. I see them come up for sale quite often.

The "different" taper is only found on the 3J7 (and the Australian equivalent), that comes with electronic ignition. The stator cover is different. The 3J7 was the Canadian Daytona... and the best RD400
... and the key is 90 degrees off the RD-LC and RZ. The TZ Hitachi ignition is "bolt on" to the early crank.
