A while back I bought a set of "pre-jetted" Kei Hin flat slides for my '71 XS1B Yamaha from Mikes XS> They work fine in and around Toronto and as far as Mosport. When I ride the bike to Grand Bend the plugs get fouled and the black colour seems to indicate an overly rich fuel mixture. The bike will chug along burping and farting until I head back and by the time I get home in Toronto it runs fine again. I wonder if the elevation change of about 300 ft. has anything to do with it or is it maybe that the carbs were originally designed for two stroke operation and don't like the last part of the journey at mostly part throttle. Any ideas?
