important question regarding the championship

Postby kirbster » Tue Sep 04, 2018 8:41 am

I have made it clear that score sheets are mandatory.
You do not have to lap score but the sheets are the clubs way of understanding who/what is actually being raced.

I have had 1 team- doing very well in one class that has not given me a sheet all season.
I know who they are (not necessarily who was riding) but i know the bike and team.

I have scored them at every round.

How do we feel about this?

Is it no big deal because i know the bike?
Or
Are rules there to be followed and - no sheet no score?

I voted "No", and I have no idea who the team is, and i have not been involved in the championship this year.

I voted no out of respect for the volunteer that is doing the work to get the points tallied up, hard enough to put all this energy into it in the best of circumstances, imagine if people act like they don't care.

Almost what Dom said, don't know the bike or team but was in the hunt. Rules is rules....

When in doubt, give it gas. It may not help the situation, but it will end the suspense!

As someone who chased teams for these sheets, I would implement the following:

Lap sheets must be turned in to the coordinator within (specify a time) after race or the team's result will be denied.

Agree on where you'll be (at tech, start/finish) and hang out for a bit....let them come to you.

Sheets to be turned in at end of race to any of the pit marshals that are wandering around all race.

This has been a pet peeve all season (last season as well).
I have been very lenient in general, but this has to stop at some point.

Sheets turned in or no score.

This one exception I have posted about has been the only team to fail to turn in a single sheet.
But there are actually many teams that have failed to hand in the “odd sheet”.

But do we reward a team that has done well but also ignored this stipulation 100%?

I have a horse in this race so I'm reluctant to comment but, Kirby, you have made it clear at every endurance race riders meeting that the score sheet was a requirement in order to be scored. There are many things that all endurance team captains need to make sure are in place in order to avoid penalties. The penalty for no score sheet is no score.

Thanks for your feedback and votes.

The one thing I strive for is fairness. A level field.

That is why this forum exists here and i post in it for opinions and discussion.

I hope that the members see this forum as that and will continue to discuss the endurance series and ways of making it better - if that is possible. I welcome all discussion. I may not agree always but i will always be respectful and listen.

Our total number of teams for the season was 36 in our traditional vintage classes. Down only 1 from 2017 which was for the now defunct Pre72 class.

I will repost this as a separate posting for discussion on the 2019 season as we have the winter to make any changes we feel will lead to a more level field for all competitors.

Thanks for participating in the 2018 season and thanks to all the volunteers who helped me run this series.
A great example of working together and getting things done.
