Hi,

Im trying to get back into racing an fzr400, i raced one about 10 years ago in the club. There used to be dozens of technically speaking posts about everything from gearing to modifications, to repair advice. Where has it all gone? Is there a downloadable record of the old posts? Looking around online, many of the other resources have disappeared. There used to be a treasure trove here !!
Please someone tell me its saved somewhere, and why not put it all back online? Its just text for the most part. i dont see how it would take much harddrive space. It was immensely helpful to me when i started out, and i think other newbies, or returning racers, or anyone with a new ride would benefit from it.

When I inhered the forum, there were a number of boards that were set to auto prune.

This makes sense for things like buy and sell as you probably dont want stale ads from 10 years ago kicking around. Unfortunatly the Tech board was one of those that was also set to auto prune.

There was actually a very good reason for this. Bumping up to the next tier of storage would have increased the VRRA hosting cost from $240 a year to around $1500.

I was asked a similar question back in May and our old hosting company KWIC did have backups going back to 2012. Unfortunatly they were acquired by Rogers, who was acquired by Comcast in the US who gave away the hosting business a company in Newmarket called "Easy on Net"; and there is just one thing wrong with the name of that company

I've been trying for 6 months to get access to that data for the new board but they won't even return a call. I honestly think its 2 guys in their parents basement.

So there was a big push to get everything moved off that infrastructure; the Website, Domain Regiatration, DNS, SMTP and Email have all been moved.

The board is the last thing we need to do so it will be moved to Discourse soon however, they shut off our SSH access so I can't even get at the raw data.

When we do move it it will have specific tech sub forums for Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, British, Itilian, 2-stroke, etc.

So that's where everything is at. I'll keep poking them.

There are a few FZR experts in the club. Failing that, I can connect you with a friend in the UK who builds FZR400's and 750 for races like the Classic TT. Paul Cassidy and Russell Roebury rode his bikes this year. Maria Costello has been very successful on his bikes.

You may also want to reach out to Mike Vinten. There are private boards that the membership cannot see, I can't even see them, and ask if there is any FZR400 related content in there.

One of the mods at gtamotorcycle.com, u/brian p, has been racing a fz400 since they were current. I betcha he's got a big file hidden somewhere.
He's nice guy, try him... you'll find him at SOAR or GTA booth at the International Center show or on GTA site. He is a past, long time VRRA member
