18x4.5 rim

Postby Brian Stevenson » Sat Dec 30, 2023 6:22 pm

Not sure where to post this but does anyone know what bikes, if any, came with 3.0" and 4.5" wide, 18" diameter front and rear wheel with a dual disk on the front and a disk on the rear?

A cush drive is preferred as well.

And I know Marvic do Morris replicas but I don't want to spend £2,300 on a set of wheels. Its more than the bike is worth

I guess the other option is to take 2 x 3.00" rear rims cut the the shoulders off one then cut the center out of the other and weld the pieces together to make a wider rim. Union Rim in Toronto do this.

Will it pass tech?

Thanks for looking

Thanks Paul.

I was hoping I could just use something off the shelf but I can't find an 18" OEM rim that was 4.5" wide. Most from that period seem to be be around 3" wide

If there was, its probably unobtainium and very expensive anyway.

1987 and 1988 Yamaha FZR1000 had 4.5" x 18" rear and a 3.5" x 17" front.

I have a set I'd be willing to part with.

Unfortunately the 17" front doesn't help as I need to mount a 18" tyre :( .
