Team Ludicrous Speed...
The Team started in 2017 when Darrell Cooney and I decided to run my FZR in the VRRA Endurance series. It's been a lot of fun- and a lot of work.
Darrell was always the fast guy and was ever improving the bike set up, even right up to this year. I always joked that I was the launch vehicle.
My job was just to stay close to the leaders before launching Darrell "Boom-Boom" Cooney who would take off like a scalded cat and often put us out front - both in class and overall.
Careful prep and a game plan is necessary to do well in endurance racing.
We managed to have a pretty solid team record:
In Class - over 23 starts and 7 seasons:
17 First place finishes
4 Second place finishes
1 Third place Finish
1 Ninth place finish
5 Season Championship wins and 2 second place finishes.
Overall on track finishing positions- Raw finish without handicaps and all classes combined:
11 Firsts
8 Seconds
3 Thirds
1 twenty-eighth
We covered a total of 5357km of endurance racing with zero crashes and only one mechanical failure.
We had a lot of help along the way, Graham Nicholls, Steve Walker, Doug Andrich, Andrew Cooney, Chris Marshall, Bill Vickery, Ravo Lainevool, Dave Laporte, Glenn Holdbrook, Ashton Bond
And many others....
Thanks for making it fun and helping keep the team on the track. That's the simplest way to explain endurance. Keep the bike on the track and out of the pits.
I'm not sure what 2024 looks like just yet. But the last 10 seasons with the VRRA have been a lot of fun.
A special Thanks to Blackstock Motorsports for sponsoring both the team and the series for the last 4-5 years.
