Transponder Scoring

Discussion regarding all things endurance racing!

There isn't an affordable electronic timing system reliable enough to be fully counted on for results in long races with hundreds of laps. Etc. So many variables can happen with 30 bikes on track. How pissed would every team be if they each had $500-1000 tied up in a race that ultimately ended up as a fun race because the timing failed?

Even if we do have electronic timing, I would suggest a hand written , legible, back up is a must. Emphasis on the 'legible'.
If your transponder loses charge, or the timing goes wonky (as these electronics sometime do) it would be prudent to have a written record. Best to plan for a team member for that in advance.

We're working hard to get a timing crew in place to help and eventually take over for our volunteers. But, manual scoring was mandatory last year. As noted above, that shouldn't change.
