Just need to get the fairing to fit so I wont need to worry about a place to put numbers or an oil catch pan. Not 100% sure what the fairing cam off of.

Just finished up clearing the bike today. I painted my dads CB 550 while I was at it. He will be racing with the VRRA as well this year. There are some pics of that in here as well.

Now just to safety wire and get the beast running 100%, No point in looking pretty if it wont run right. Lots of little odds and ends and the fairing to finish. I'm not going to do anything special to the fairing. Most likely just paint it flat black with a white number plate and sticker the crap out of it. That way if it ever does go down it's easier to fix.

Looks awesome! Some might take acception to the "carbon fibre", but it sure looks cool. Lol. 8)

Thanks Dewey, The carbon was a Canadian Tire special, covers some of the mistakes I made in the paint. It was something I just went with I had no real plan on how it was going to look in my head. It looks decent from 10 feet away but it's not perfect. It is however just a race bike and I really have no idea how to paint, I just try my best and learn as I go. I'll be out for the Race school with my father in June. I want to do a track day beforehand but I am not sure if I'll get to it.

Here is the before and after shot of my Dads CB 550. It was previously owned by another VRRA member. You may recognize it.

Saw the C/F at CTC yesterday. Did you clear over top of it? And if so how long did you wait between sticking it down and clearing over? My 17 year old son is also doing the June school, and I think we will team up for the endurance race as well. Are you excited or what, counting the sleeps till race time? I love this time of year!!

I cleared right over top of it as soon as I got it stuck on. I made a little mistake with my dads bike. I painted it white then put the carbon and pin striping on. After he wanted it red so I put candy red over the black, now the striping/carbon is kinda brownish in that area. The carbon and pin striping should have been done right before the clear and the graphics should not be applied till the base coat is really dry, I would wait a day or so. I used Nason 2 part clear, works well. You can also put the carbon through the printer and print out what design you want on the back side and cut out. It's a cheep way to put on graphics and you can be as creative as you like. As for the excited part, you have no idea. I can guarantee I wont sleep the night before the weekend. I just hope I can get all my bikes sorted and running nicely. I have wanted to do this all my life, and here is my chance. I can't wait!!! :D What will you guys be riding?

Love the build(s) so far. Ya the CF is going to confound the guys at tech LOL. Suggest you bring a scrap bit of the CTC sticker material with you the first time through inspection.
Your fairing looks like a pretty tight fit on your bike, especially with an oil retention diaper or a bellypan... I was trying to figure out what it was originally meant for but coming up blank...
