FZR400 FS

All this family stuff can really get in the way of a good summer of riding, it seems.
Don't want to do this, but seems like it just makes sense at this stage in life. Hope to get back into racing in time.

FS-1988 FZR400 which I've owned since 2000. It has been a great bike for my first couple of track days and once or twice a year race duty since 2004, but hasn't been ridden or raced since 2013.
Has won P4F3 races at Mosport and has been a turn key bike, great for beginners or experienced riders who just want to ride and not fiddle too much beyond tire changes, fuel filling and oil changes once you get home. Racetech suspension set for 190lb rider. Spares and street bodywork available (it was my first street ride). I bought this bike from the original owner in 2000 in very good condition, and the street bodywork is still in good condition, hanging in the rafters in my garage.

Asking $3000 obo. Spares and street bodywork negotiable as well.
I don't know what I have for pictures if any in digital form (at least on this computer), but I'll find some and email them or at least take a stroll to the garage and snap a few current ones for interested parties. Just let me know. If I get a chance, I'll try to remember how to add them to this thread as well. (No promises)

P.S. A big thanks to all the friends I've made in the VRRA, I'll try to be there at Mosport to say hi as usual, just probably not in leathers for a while.

I don't know if it still looks like this, but here are a couple for you from '07. It was always at, or near the front when I raced against Craig. :) Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Tim!
It has new upper and lower fairings with oil containment and no holes for the headlights, but otherwise much the same!

Tim you were running that number 840 really fast back then. I was spectating at a couple rounds in those days. It speaks well that Craig and his fzr400 were dicing with you back then.

I'm curious about the suspension and rims on the fzr400 for sale. Would you care to tell us what suspension front/rear is on the Fzr400? Is the rear a 17"?

Turn key is nice - I'd rather ride than wrench. But to be honest, I'm not really looking for an fzr400, just curious about the bike.

Front suspension is racetech emulators and .95 or 1.0 racetech springs (can't remember, but I was 185-190 lbs or so when they were installed). Installed by Scott Miller @ Fast company. Shock is a fox one I believe, that Scott rebuilt and sprung for me.
Wheels are stock, including the 18" rear, which is partly why I haven't raced in a year or two. I haven't had the time, wherewithal or money to source out one of the wheels that apparently will fit fairly easily once set up with spacers, etc.
Merry Christmas!!! Kids are back in bed after our 4:30am wake up.

avon now have race tires that fit the stock fzr wheels. they have a 120-17 and 150-18 (both bias ply) that will properly fit your stock rims. turn key, man i wish i could..
merry christmas all.

Interesting. I don't know what that bike would be like with bias tires though.

A 120 is too wide for the 3" front wheel. Back in around '95 when I got my Fizzer the previous owner, the "Racin' Mason",had a 110-17 radial on the front and a 150-18 Metzeler Comp K bias-ply on the rear.Seemed to work fine. The Metzeler was pricey, though.Eventually a 150-18 radial became available for the rear, but, alas,no longer. If you do the 17" rear conversion for about $500 there's a lot of good, inexpensive race compound D.O.T stuff available,so you can recoup your investment.

yes the 120 is a little wide for the front, but avon recommends a 2.75"-to 3.5" for the 120. You can use it.

Pretty sure I ran a 120 slick up front. Fitting a 17" out back is the best bet, and really isn't that hard.
