Bulletin Board access

Postby Ashton Bond » Wed Nov 07, 2018 7:12 am

On December 1, all access to the Bulletin Board will be wiped clean. We will be repopulating it’s access strictly to current paid members only, and that access will be based on the exported names of current members from Series Tracker.

Because we have no way of knowing who the actual forum member is compared to their screen name, we would like all registered members to use their actual name as their screen name to gain access to the Bulletin Board. You can edit your screen name in your user profile on the forum.

The Bulletin Board is a password protected discussion forum intended to give the Membership a safe space to discuss issues pertaining to their racing. The use of actual names improves the transparency of those discussions. For those who still insist on using a screen name please edit your screen name exactly as it appears on the forum into the “team headquarters” field on your SeriesTracker rider profile. We will be pulling the data weekly starting Dec 1.

Just so we are 100% clear.
This is to gain access to the members only section of this forum - referred to as the bulletin board.

All other areas remain open/public.

So- any discussions on club politics or procedures rule changes etc... This is the place to have these discussions. And we really want to encourage the use of this area moving forward as the only place to have these discussions. Facebook is great for many things, but discussing or voicing opinions about club business is not one of them. Plus - use of the forum makes it easier to search subjects and find them again. Facebook is terrible for that.
This is why this area is linked to membership.
So moving forward we will purge the members list and start building it from scratch. Once we have confirmation of your paid membership we will add you back to that section.

For the computer illiterate,
Am I right in saying that it will be our Series Tracker user name?
If not, will there be a mechanism to confirm our access name, maybe an email?

We can assist.
For now- assume you will gain access as soon as we can make it happen. It may take a few days from when you pay your membership but it wont take very long.

Once you log into series tracker- using your current username and password, You simply edit your rider information page and add your forum username to the team headquarters section.

Sorry if i didn't answer your question properly Les.
You are free to continue using the current username you have maintained here in the forum for years. We just need a way to know who it really is behind that username, so we can simply verify that they are in fact a member.
If you want to keep "The Flying Fossil" that is no problem at all. You just add that to the seriestracker information to give us an easy way to cross reference.

Better?

Thanks Kirby - I think I've got it so I guess I'll just suck it and see and if I get in trouble I'll go whining to Peter Balfour!

Just a reminder that Dec 1 is closing in. If you are already renewed and choosing to use a user name other than your actual name you will need to edit it before Dec 1

Hi Ashton,
Is there a tutorial available to sign up on series tracker. I had a go at it without success. Sharon and I want to keep our racing memberships alive. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for your sustained help with the club.

I’ll be doing VRRA work this afternoon, and will set you each up a membership portal and email them to you. That’s really the simplest for any remaining existing members who’ve never utilized our online system.

I'm a bit confused ! When you refer to " team headquarters " section in Series Tracker , are you referring to the section referred to as " team name " ? Thanks , Gary

Team Headquarters is 3 lines down in the "Race Team Information"" section.
