Transponder purchase

Postby Michael Vinten » Mon Jun 22, 2015 8:03 pm

The club will be purchasing some items from Mylaps. We can add additional Kart or Bike transponder packages to our order. The Classic 160 (Kart - yellow) and 260 (Bike - red) have been replaced by the X2 versions which are subscription based. For more information see Mylaps.com.
Pricing each including exchange, duty, taxes and shipping;
Kart (1 year) - $150, Kart (2 year) - $215, Kart (5 year) - $360
Bike (1 year) - $205, Bike (2 year) - $300, Bike (5 year) - $525.
Units must be prepaid via an etransfer treasurer-vrra@hotmail.com or cheque to Sue received no later than July 03. Order will be placed July 06 and units should be available at the Summer Classic.

I am a bit confused do those prices include the transponder and does the transponder siill work when the subscription runs out and do the yellow cart ones work with medium to slow bikes ?

Prices listed include transponder and a 1, 2 or 5 year subscription. When the subscription runs out the owner pays to renew the subscription. X2 transponders are new so I do not know all the details beyond what is on Mylaps. The Kart (yellow) is what 95% of the club uses - it works on all bikes so long as it is mounted with 12 inches from the ground

The old ones are not obsolete, as long as transponders send a signal that the loop picks up, they are good to go. We have 34 rental units and no plans to upgrade them until they fail. The new ones have more features as described here http://www.mylaps.com/en/x2-benefits-kart
