It is with great sadness that I inform you that David Makin passed away on Tuesday evening as a result of cancer.
David was a member of the VRRA between 1982 and 1992 (membership # 157) and long time members will remember him as part of the “Ottawa gang” who rode a BSA 441 in those early days of the VRRA. David was one of the tech inspectors when the Ottawa crew took on the task of tech inspection at our Festival for several years. He was also the major contributor to the original VRRA Constitution, which we jointly drafted back in 1990-91.
Medical problems forced his retirement from vintage road racing but, as a stalwart member of the CVMG, David went on to organize a couple of vintage trials every year at his cabin in Lanark County. This year’s spring trial is set for this coming Sunday and this will go ahead as planned, as David would have wanted.
The funeral will take place at 1:30pm on Monday, 16th May at Kanata United Church.
Pat and I express our deepest condolences to his wife Judy and all his family.
Stan

Well said Stan. We have not spoken to David for some time now but clearly remember his smile and enthusiasm for motorcycling. Godspeed David and to Judy and your family our sincere condolances.
