2019 Memberships

Postby Ashton Bond » Sun Sep 09, 2018 10:02 am

Please do not renew online prior to Nov 4. I am building the season online now, but as per the Constitution the first day of our season is the Sunday after the AGM. Anyone renewing now will need to be transferred forward, which isn’t a terrible amount of work, but it takes remembering to do it, and that’s not my specialty these days...

Thanks Ashton. Good to know.

I had one other question. I’ve been able to “recruit” a couple of people for next year. One is a colleague from work and has a lot of experience racing in WERA and CCA. The other races at SOAR. Both would be on P1 bikes.

What’s the process to sign up now? Can it be done through Series Tracker or is there still a form? Since thy don’t have a current VRRA membership can they sign up before Nov 4th or should they wait?

Sorry for the questions...

They would just sign up online anytime after November 4. As long as they have a current road race license they’ll be fine.

You can hold your number for up to 24 months from the completion of the last year in which you held a valid comp. membership. If you get past that it drops back into the open pool if it’s 3-digit. Same true if you switch to non-racing membership. If you hold a single or 2-digit number it drops into a reserved pool where it’s applied for annually by eligible members.

Could you tell members how they can renew their membership to avoid losing their original actual membership number. You told me that several members had "reinvented" themselves when renewing last year and therefore lost their original membership number.
Thanks

Our ST data set is built on the 2014 membership tables. So if the member has never tried to make themselves an online registration portal they can do so using our ST link: https://seriestracker.com/or/r_login.asp?PID=16 Click where it says “click here to sign up and go through the initial signup sequence using the birthdate when prompted of: 04/01/2014

More often after 4 years people forget either their username or their password, and instead of clicking either of the recovery function links they try to push through an incorrect version of either. What happens then is ST creates a new portal for you using the invalid login info in order to protect the users personal data. The user (or potential hacker) doesn’t realize it, and simply re-types their user info thinking they’re getting through the steps. They are getting through the steps, but what they’re actually doing is creating a second version of themselves which is how they suddenly have a “new” 6-digit membership number instead of their original.

Because this action is a security issue there’s no “fix” to it from the consumers perspective. We have to adjust it in the actual data set deleting the duplicate “you” and hooking your new username and login to the “old you.” This isn’t actually an issue for anyone except the member who would like to keep their original membership number, so if that’s you drop myself or Kirby an email and we can fix it up.

And just again, as a reminder, November 4 at 12:00am is the very first moment you can renew your membership for 2019. Membership prices are voted on at the AGM and effective immediately there after, but to make it clean we start 2019 the next day.

It’s a good reason to stay up late!

Also as you renew, it’s a great time to make sure your transponder number is correctly listed on your Series Tracker account along with your emergency contact info and a working email! As the voting and all the race event info is moving to electronic formats a valid and working email will be critical.

I just renewed mine and it told me that my competition number was 9898 and wouldn't let me keep my old number, 64.

Ya, that’s really odd. Check your membership number on the renewal. If it’s a new 6-digit number it’s not so odd anymore... There is no auto-input field for bike number though. It has to be keyed in, copy/pasted or selected into the box.

We’ll look

Membership number is what it always was (4 digits). As long as I have the 2 digit number that is on my bike as opposed to a 4 digit number I'm ok with that
