Thanks Dom, that was terrific. I will definately be buying the dvd. I was just becoming a fan of the sport when he won his first 500cc championship in 1976, but it wasnt until many years later when i relised the impact he had on the sport with his celebrity status. It wasnt until Rossi entered the scene that we saw a personality of such magnitude that that was ever equaled.

There was also a documentary about Sheene and James Hunt that was shown on British tv during the holidays, also available on racing-underground:

If you just think only of the accomplishments, crashes, surgery and sacrifices. This guy flashed the Maple Leaf from Belgium to Japan. Made us proud. Incredible when you think of the lack of protection..leathers yes but no CE pads. No full face helmet. The boots had no hard armour. No tire warmers. etc.... Again...just fathom the incredible achievements M. Duff has done. http://www.nfb.ca/film/ride_for_your_life/ if you hav a boo at this NFB 10min film. It z impressive..in that this z well be4 helmet and bike cams. It wud b super if not for the 60s jazz music.
Some simpletans are feeverishly anti-fur but leather seems ok to their logic.? It's easier to attack rich ladies than bikers . #712
