Book review - Must read if you haven't

Postby limy_1 » Mon May 14, 2012 8:50 am

I was talking on facebook last month with some sidecar racers in Europe.
I do like that about facebook it is a global network.

Anyway, a gentleman commented on something that I said.
In his next statement he said "have you ever read my book?"
Well I didn't know his name as an author I ask what book.
I was told "my autobiography."

I started to ask about the book only to find it has been out of print for a couple of years in England.
I was told he would look to see if he had one laying around and I looked on Amazon.
I found the book on Amazon for $20 plus shipping another couple of bucks.
Then I find out that this gentleman had a copy for me and it was $25.
I decided to buy the book from him, it was worth the extra couple of dollars.

The book arrived about a week later and it was addressed to me and signed by the author Stan Dibbens.
In a nut shell Stan is a World Champion Side Car racer from the 50's and lives the life.
After racing he participated in the Bluebird Project (car land speed record in Australia).
He then became the sole representative of a new spark plug manufacture NGK.
He would retire from NGK.

This year he even was out on track for a couple of laps at World Championship Race.

This book and man are very interesting.
If you don't know of him try and find a copy of his book Hold On you won't be disapointed.
