Hi Jeff,

I will be needing an offset front sprocket and was thinking of having the teeth cut off one and welding a second full sprocket for a 3/8" offset.

Would you be able to do this, what would it cost for a one piece sprocket (16 teeth, spline in hole)?

Jim

The only problem with that (and is the reason I don't normally cut front sprockets) is the inside spline is punched out with a broch and I do not have such equpment because most motorcycle companys have diffrent splines from each other and would make me have to have a warehouse full of diffrent cutters. Now depending on the size of the splines I might be able to make something work I have very small endmills that I could do a rough cut with and then attempt make the corners square but such a job requires a lot of manhours. so it really depends on how much money you want to spend.

Thanks Jeff, I will hold off on the front until I have tried the welded version. What material would you use and how much would a 50T rear run?

Thanks Jim

suggestion re the offset spkt: if you have a spare shaft with the seal bushing, cut the second spkt centre out to fit the bushing, bolt the first onto the shaft, clamp and weld etc. call it flying by the seat of your pants ?
I use an old shaft as a mandrel in the lathe to turn the teeth of an old spkt to fit the hole of a larger 18th (now avaiable from Mikes XS) on the XS 650. Paul
