Indian Gas Tanks

I need a couple or RZ tanks and it seems the feedback on tanks coming out of India is hit or miss. Does anyone have any real world experience with one they have purchased? There seem to be half a dozen companies making them.

I have one of Norbo’s tanks on my LC race bike and it’s way better than the original Yamaha tank but he had those made in Taiwan and it took him years to get right so it’s probably not realistic to expect that level of quality out of India.

Any insights would be helpful

From what I have read from the UK, the Indian tanks are more miss than hit. I haven't read one report of an Indian made tank that was fit for purpose.
There are what I believe are Japanese made tanks available for the RZ from Webike that have good reports, although there did seem to be a problem with the fit in one area and minor ripples on the top which required a smear of filler to provide a smooth surface.

Thanks Stan. Thats basically the same feedback everyone provides.

They bought a tank on one of the UK forums and cut it in half. It was already full of rust but appeared to made been made from rusty metal in he first place.

I'm looking at some alternatives for the race bike. People have fitted Gen 1 R6 and GS500 tanks. A popular swap is also the TZR250 but the frame needs tweaked its impossible to fit it with the original seat and body work as its 1.5 inches shorter.

The one that is almost a bolt on is a TZR125 tank, but its plastic and although Michael said it was OK, I'm hesitant.

I do have a tank in almost pristine condition and did find a company that could make the stamps for the left, right and bottom, but their minimum order was 1500 tanks. Thats a lot of restorations :)
