Thanks for all the questions guys. This is why this post is here.
OK, so the final definition of the classes will be worked out later so nothing other than the concept is what I'm putting forward. I'd just like to see interest in the classes as I think offering a varied selection of racing motorcycles is a good representation of our club.
The poll has been sent out and I will be going over the responses this Wednesday with the exec to see which classes are possibly viable.
All singles are allowed in the Song of Singles class. (Sound of Singles is copyrighted so we can't call it that) So any year from 1900 up to 2025. Why 2025? For the inclusion of Modern Lightweight bikes that have one cylinder such as the KTM 390.
Yes, the TT, XT and SR Yamaha singles can enter. And that also includes those motors being put in a modern road race chassis such as the TZ250 or RZ125. Or even a Spondon or Tigcraft if you have the luck of owning such a piece of artwork.
Exact class cut offs haven't been defined as of yet but I would like to make it as simple as possible. With the riders input and general consensus we might even change the descriptions through the season to balance out the classes.
Road race machines means bikes with clipons (Super bike bars would also be ok) and a road racing sitting position. This guideline was meant to exclude Super Moto bikes. Converted dirt bikes into road racers would be allowed as seen in California (Formula 450).
Yes, a Rotax 625 in a TZ chassis would definitely be allowed. To me, these bikes are the definition of the SOS class. The ultimate being the Ducati Super Mono 660. Any bike with one cylinder. Four stroke. Thumper.
