Ted Sturgess passed away November 25th. Ted was active with the VRRA racing his original Yamaha TA250, Honda CR750 and Drixton Honda 500. Ted raced in the 1960/70s on one of the only Honda kit CR750s in Canada as well as other race bikes. Ted was the owner of Sturgess Cycle in Hamilton for most of his life. This successful dealership was started by his grandfather 'Pops' Sturgess and then run by his father Ted Sr. Ted Sr was a famous Canadian racer with many wins. Sturgess Cycle is one of the oldest motorcycle dealerships still operating and one of the earliest Honda dealers. Ted didn't just sell and service motorcycles, he was a friend to many of us who rode many different brands. I was privileged to know Ted.
