Re: 1980 RD 400 Daytona.

Ya, it looked like a 125 fairing to me as well - just couldn't place the shape is all and it bugs me 'cause I should know, dammit. Regarding carbon fiber (CF), it's been around for 40 years or more as a composite reinforcement with an extremely high Young's modulus. I first used it back in the early...

Re: 1980 RD 400 Daytona.

Love the build(s) so far. Ya the CF is going to confound the guys at tech LOL. Suggest you bring a scrap bit of the CTC sticker material with you the first time through inspection. Your fairing looks like a pretty tight fit on your bike, especially with an oil retention diaper or a bellypan... I was...

Re: '72 Moto Guzzi Eldorado project...

Neat project Pete and nice polishing job on the alloy bits. Maybe you should do an article for the Baffled Muffler. In my cranium stuffed with interesting but mostly useless information, I remember George Kerker building one of these for Daytona about 1967 or '68. Might even have the article around ...

Re: Yamaha XS650/750 Race bike

Sammer,
Not to steal this thread, but if you have a few photos of the TR2 you could share with me to help me out on my ersatz TR2 project, I'd appreciate it.

Re: Project Belly Pan...

Oh ya, Worked at damned near anything to put myself through university (BSc Metallurgy and Materials Science). One of those odd things; I was renting some space in a shop to build dirt track fiberglass parts to keep me in school and riding at the same time (will I ever learn?). There was still exces...

Re: Project Belly Pan...

Ya, but you have to buy it a box at a time... I've been using the stuff on and off for about 30 years now - its original use was in foundry pattern making, which I used to do years ago... Comes in a lot of different thicknesses, with and without an adhesive backing. Fillets in different radii are av...

Re: 2011 Tremblant Info

To help us all out with the Trebby noise thing, is there a possibility that for only Mt. Tremblant, the Tech Committee could waive the "no Carbon fiber, no Stainless steel" ban on just mufflers? I'm not talking about letting some yabbo show up and run with a 6 stage diffuser head pipe 4 in...

Peter,
Does this mean the VRRA wants $150.00 for me to hang my wee "Pacomotorstuff" banner on my truck?

Re: WTB white number plates

Try anyplace (Walmart, Staples, Zellers, Dollar Store, whatever) that sells waste bins in white / off-white. Get out your tinsnips. Cut to shape and size required. Problem solved. Did this years ago when I played in the dirt, can't think why it won't work on a RR course. See you at the Romp. Regards...
