As Mike says, these engines run hot, and the more HP you pull out of them the hotter they will get. Adding an oil cooler will definitely help. Just make sure its either in the direct air stream, or well ducted. Also as mentioned carb jetting (too lean), or timing can cause excessive heat.
Was going over the schedule for the TT and noticed the dates are wrong. Saturday should be May 31st, 2014 and Sunday June 1st, 2014. Figure the actual scheduled times are correct though.
Sorry to hear you won't be joining us on the P2 grid this year Malcolm. Have you thought about possibly making the bike available (rent/lease/your terms?) to help get a new team started?
If you haven't already heard, a heads up for the sidecar guys that use the Dunlop 16". Dunlop is closing the plant that currently makes the 16" sidecar tire. According to Phil Lamonte there are currently 10 in stock, and he has another 20 coming. That will be all for this year . I'm trying...
