Re: boosting the gate

I'm thinking any rules regulating bust size would be open to a Charter appeal. However, sidecar Polo would certainly be interesting.

+1 on the mag being eligible as a chair wheel. The Mini 10 x 4 mag wheel with standard offset should fit with not problems on a Whittaker/GBR frame.

Re: Sidecar Champions Since 1923 - Book

Got mine last fall, definitely an excellent book. The Colin Seeley & George O'Dell books are also quite good.

Re: Chair tires

To set the record straight, a few facts. First - I have been dealing with rules for over 35 years, starting with being a member of the Race Commitee of the Whitby Kart club. For 20 years I was a member of VARAC, and served two terms on the BoD. During that time I wrote VARAC's Group70 rules set. Tho...

Re: Chair tires

I had thought this was a civil discussion, in which tire sizes and possible wheel alternatives were the point. Doing a flame job is not the best way in my opinion to encourage increased partcipation, when you are looking to increase grid sizes. That said, I'll be on the grid at Shannonville, and wil...

Re: Chair tires

Sidecars have historically been a mix of both motorcycle and car technology, since the evolution of the 'kneeler'. The issue isn't whether suitable tires exist that comply with the rules, clearly they do. The issue is sourcing a spoked hub that will be both safe & reliable. As has been pointed o...

Re: Chair tires

I had the same question regarding the wording of the P2 sidecar rules - My question to Rick Yates & his response: "...In the P2 section it gives a maximum tire width of 5". Is this tread width? Dunlop offer an 'L' section vintage racing tire in 4.7" & 5" tread widths, cou...

Re: 2-strokes

I'll have to revise that last post. A picture of the Dave Molyneux recreation of the O'Dell Windle. Give the bulge on the right, and front exit, looks like they all exit on the right.

Re: 2-strokes

I remember seeing a picture in the George O'Dell book of his Windle with a TZ750. Seems to me two pipes came out on the left (like a modern F2), and the other two came out under the driver's right leg. If I can find the picture I'll post it.

Re: Sidecar Swinger (as the Ausie's call them) Required

Thanks Rodger. While it was basically all there, it's been sitting for 3+ years. So as of now it's been stripped to the frame, and the engine is on the floor. Lots of little, and a couple of big things that need attention. As I'd like to get some seat time before the Quinte TT, plans is to have it r...
