Re: Fiddaman Sidecar

The serial number should be on the end of the main cross member, right side Rick. The ones I've seen are in two lines - top > MGF RS, and below that a series of numbers. The 1st two are the year. On mine it's 81xxxx.

Re: Fiddaman Sidecar

Rick, what year is the chassis?? I have an 81 (13" wheels) that I'm going to start working on this winter. Peter Esaff's Fiddaman is a 10". I'll trade you some info I've collected, for some photos of yours.

Re: AHRMA at NJMP Sidecars Aug 2-4 2013

The USCRA event in May is on my calander for 2013. I would also consider the Aug, and September ones, baring conflict with VRRA (and a healthy bike, and bank account). That said, USCRA only run P1 & P2 using rules that match ours (no P3), and SRA don't run Vintage (per say  ). This banter ...

Re: AHRMA at NJMP Sidecars Aug 2-4 2013

For god sake please don't try to change our rules. Just because they screwed it up is no reason for us to follow. Not sure how or why this affects VRRA Or USCRA Or SRA for that matter... Doesn't affect us at all (P2), was just an observation, and an example of how it could have been better. Don't g...

Re: AHRMA at NJMP Sidecars Aug 2-4 2013

Kind of a cockup set of engine rules. With the 74 cut-off for P1 the two main engine choices would be BMW & Yamaha XS (with 750 kit). As those are the same dominate engines choices for their P2, kind of kills off P1, given similar wheel & tire rules. :( My .02, a better version would have be...

Re: anything new

Not sure a KZ1300 would make a great sidecar engine Kyler. The only thing I can remember is it's liquid cooling would be good. Like the CBX, the six is wide and heavy, and the ZK was designed for touring with a shaft drive. The GPZ1100 would be the better choice. Basically the rule change wil...

Re: anything new

This doesn't effect anyone today, as we hardly see any P3's in VRRA, but.... ARHMA has changed their P3 engine rule according to a post on the SRA forum. In reply to an email inquiry the following reply "..yes, 4 strokes up to 1982, 750 to 1300cc any configuration. Tim" Kind of throws the ...

Re: running a starter motor on the xs engine

my .02, as I'm only running a starter (no kick access). My experience was you need either a big battery (with total loss), or run an alternator, and small light weight battery. I went with the later (PM alternator & PC310). Also negated any issues with running a Boyer ignition (eg. low voltage),...
